Here at Demon we’re committed to improving the experience we provide, so based on your feedback we’re delighted to announce that we’re introducing a new and improved email service based on Microsoft Exchange 2010 technology.

Below are just some of the improvements you will enjoy:

  • - Microsoft Outlook Web Access
  • - Email is stored remotely so you can access it from multiple clients without each one having to keep a local copy using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol capability)
  • - Ability to continue to receive email via POP3
  • - Demon Mail Control Panel allows you to manage your users
  • - Fully resilient platform providing greater stability and performance

We will start to migrate customers on to the new service from February 2012, however we will contact you nearer the time of migration to notify you of the changes that you will need to make to your mail client settings along with other configuration details.

We are also looking for customers to help us with our final phase of testing. If you would like to volunteer please send an email to newmail@demon.net and we will be in contact with you shortly.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Firstly, please ensure that you can receive emails to postmaster@yourhostname.demon.co.uk as we will use this address to provide you with the essential information that will allow you to continue to use your Demon email service, this will include information regarding the date that your service will be migrated.

Secondly, if your domain is hosted by Demon we will automatically update your email DNS (Domain Name Service record) configuration for you.

If your Domain name is not hosted by Demon you will need to contact your Domain provider to make the necessary DNS changes if you use any of the following:

  • - Sender Policy Framework (SPF)
  • - Mail Exchange (MX) records

Thirdly, please be aware that DNS configuration changes will only be necessary if you use any of the services listed above. Detailed information regarding the required configuration changes (both for Domain Names and email clients) will be communicated to you nearer the time of your migration date.

To allow you time to arrange any IT support you may need to make the necessary changes, we will give you a minimum of 7 days notice before we migrate your service.
